Exercises and Activities

I. Describing Yourself to Others

Most online classes have this activity as a boring biography section. This activity will enable us to name objects and characteristics that have been previously chosen to be non-specific to any of the cultures represented.

In this way we can use a commonly known item to help others know our personality prefrences and cultural dimensions as strengths. There is no need to dwell on the weak points, since a collection of strengths from the team should fill the inventory of needs for the collaboration.

II. Human Values Continuum

Further thoughts on what our value systems are and perhaps for the first time others can realize that these may not be the same for everyone in a cross-cultural environment.

III. Who's Cooking

After all that deep thinking in the previous activities perhaps we need some good food. Not only can we have a taste of another culture, but we can see how each other interacts and thinks about roles in the family and in society in order to complete the community we know at UoP as a team.

IV. Culture Savvy

This game is very complex, but has potential for a class reunion experience that is live or converted into a live online gaming experience.

Additional options for activities exists in the synchronous environments listed below. These are open source items and are functional now. Please go ahead and use them...we welcome your participation!
