1.
Internet Scams
There
are numerous Scams on the net. Things like sending email chain letters,
making $5,000 by next week just sitting around in your underwear, and other
garbage.
Work
at Home Scams
The
primary work-at-home scams are things like envelope stuffing, processing
judicial judgments, medical billing, and chain letters. If something promises
you can make a lot of easy money in a very short time, then stay clear.
You can make a lot of money on the net, but it takes a good product, proper
marketing, and investment in both time and money. It isn't as easy as just
setting up a website and by next week you'll have $5,000.
Easy
Money
There
are a lot of business opportunities that promise you easy money from home
without doing any work at all. While it is possible to make lots of money
at home, it isn't possible to get rich quick. When you see an ad that says,
EASY MONEY! QUICK CASH, etc., these companies are just trying to get a
quick sale off of you.
Pyramid
Schemes
Pyramid
schemes have been around for many years, but they keep coming up with new
twists to make them sound different. Basically, they all involve getting
people signed up in a downline matrix. They tell you that if you
get two people under you and they get two under them, in a few months you
will make thousands of dollars. However, upon further examination, all
you will be doing is recruiting people into their business with the hopes
of them recruiting others. All you are promoting is for people to join
and are not selling a real product or service.
Search
Engine Scams
There
are many companies online that are claiming they can get you top 10 rankings
on all the major search engines. Fact is no one can get you all top positions
on all search engines for all your words. True, there are some
companies who study the search engines and have learned the rules and can
get some good results with some of your keywords. But to guarantee top
10 on all of your important keywords? No way.
Also,
be wary of companies that say they will create hundreds of doorway pages
to submit to the search engines. What happens is that these doorway pages
they create will be nothing more than a bunch of keywords thrown together
on a page without any coherency. They try and put in your keyword sprinkled
throughout the text to score a good ranking in hopes of tricking the search
engines. The search engines do not like this practice and if they catch
those pages, they will not include them in their listings.
2.
Cheating Spouses!
The
following is a guide to help you determine if a spouse or mate is possibly
cheating on you. However, if many of these factors are present I don't
suggest you confront them immediately. This would only cause them to refrain
from the activity for sometime and you could make a false accusation. Take
your time and if necessary, seek the help of a Private Investigator.
At
the beginning of an affair, the cheating person is usually more attentive
to their spouse or loved one. This is due to the guilt associated with
the activity. After the affair has continued, the person will often find
unnecessary "fault" with their spouse or loved one. Again this can be attributed
to their guilty conscious. They tend to begin losing interest in activities
at home. Ignoring family events, children, and even routine chores, can
be a sign that something is going on. Often there is a general change in
their attitude toward the entire family. Look for a sudden change in sexual
activity, either more or less often, couple with requests for "unusual"
acts. Grooming habits will change. Cheaters tend to become a little
more "attractive."
Pay
attention to changes in their choice of clothing, cologne/perfume, physical
fitness, etc. Clothing can often show signs of an affair. Check for stains,
odors, or unknown cologne/perfume. Remember the old saying, "if you play
you must pay!" This applies to affairs from a financial point. Keep a close
eye on money, check and credit card statements to see if they are spending
more than usual or in places they are not normally involved with.
Keep
track of the mileage on their vehicles and compare it with the distance
to and from work. If a person should be driving a daily total of 25 miles
and there are an unexplained 50 extra miles three days a week, it may be
a direct indication of concern.
3.
Are you being "bugged"?
It
is an occasional concern that people have been "bugged" inside their home
or office with a listening device or camera. This is becoming a greater
possibility with the advancement of technology and the ease by which sophisticated
equipment can be obtained or even made. They usually involve simple radio
transmitters, about ½ the size of a pack of chewing gum and a wire
for the antenna. The signal is sent "somewhere" usually to a normal FM
radio receiver tuned to a specific frequency.
Often
a tape recorder will be involved and found within only a short distance
from the receiver. The other possibilities are endless and can involve
microwave transmissions or satellite technology. If there is suspicion
of a device in your home, office, or vehicle, start with a complete and
detailed physical search. Often these items can be found without the need
for special outside assistance. Look inside drawers, underneath tables
and desks, and just about anywhere you think a small item could be hidden.
Watch
out for "freshly" painted areas or recently repaired walls. Try to trace
the telephone line throughout the home, attic, or basement to the outside
area. See if "anything" is connected to the phone line that you feel should
not be there. Try tracing the line from the home to the nearest pole or
area junction box. However, be careful not to destroy telephone company
property or cause any injury to yourself. Also, removing electrical outlet
covers without making sure the power has been shut down for that entire
area, is not advisable! There are eavesdropping devices that work from
inside the outlets but be careful exploring them.
A good
way to detect if your telephone is bugged or someone is receiving audio
transmissions from inside a location is to set up a "trick conversation"
with someone trustworthy. Talk about something very exciting or interesting
and see if it "comes back to you." By the way, do not use a suspected telephone
or plan this from the troubling location. Use an outside pay phone!
Now
if a good physical search does not satisfy your suspicions, call on a Private
Investigator or Security Expert. Many have high tech equipment that can
search for radio, audio, and video signals, through walls and over telephone
lines.
